This is Indy, the founder of the blog.
A former medical microbiologist, with a passion for travel, experiencing different cultures, and trying different cuisines 🙂
For 1.5 years after my graduation, I worked as a medical microbiologist in a public laboratory. I loved working as a microbiologist, but nothing exciting really happened, everything became routine pretty fast.
I decided to quit and apply for a master’s scholarship in China in hopes of finding a well-paying position in one of the big research organizations. Long story short, I didn’t go through with my master’s application as I realized nothing about working in research in the long term really excited me.
How did I get here?
With no job or a master’s degree, I needed a plan to make money fast. I did freelance writing and editing jobs mostly found on Fiver for about 6 months.
Through Fiver, I was lucky to find a long-term writing job. It didn’t take me long to realize I enjoyed writing.
I made a decent income from the job and loved working from home but I was still working for someone else. I didn’t have the freedom that comes with self-employment.
My desire for freedom in life, finances, and ability to travel led to the creation of IndyAbroad, a blog dedicated to helping you build a life of freedom as you travel the world.
How I help you
indyabroad.com is a blog dedicated to helping you discover amazing destinations around the world, and show you that you can also make money passively while traveling.
My goal is to help you have amazing travel experiences and also inspire others to travel more. Traveling can take a toll on your well-being but when done right it’s the most rewarding investment.
